Petra Kuhnert, Cristie Software
The Cristie Recovery Simulator is Cristie’s new tool to test the integrity of Disaster Recovery backups made with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager in conjunction with the known Cristie TBMR.
By running an automated restore of the TBMR/TSM backup to a supported virtual environment such as VMware Vsphere or Microsoft Hyper-V the software checks the consistency of your backups.
Scheduled recoveries can be run whenever you wish and the system will inform you by email about the state of your backup.

- Short product presentation -
With TSMCluster we offer a proven high availability solution for TSM since 8 years. Since May 2013 we have the new version 5.2 with our sensors technology, enhanced webinterface, relational database and simplified notification. In this presentation we will show you the benefit of the sensors and the additional improvements of our product. Come and see how a "predictive failover" can help in your daily work.
Lars Henningsen, General Storage GbR
Setting up new TSM Servers is an easy enough task. However, doing it in a way which utilizes hardware without wasting resources, adapts flexibly to unforeseen demands, scales to any capacity or throughput, keeps the servers available in all circumstances and, despite all that, saves money is challenging. The presentation focuses on how to deploy TSM servers using the General Storage Cluster Controller. Real world examples from various customer situations and generic scenarios, including utilization of Scale Out NAS for TSM will be discussed in detail.
Herwig Evenepoel, Hitachi Data Systems GmbH
Running successful backups is a challenge for each storage administrator and application owner. With the holistic approach to Data protection from Hitachi Data Systems you will be able to better manage your backup solution using detailed reporting and dashboards on all data to show overall backup success as well as risks. Furthermore we will highlight how to improve backup using techniques like archiving, deduplication and high-performance disk solutions known as PBBA (Purpose Built backup Appliances).
Nick Turner, IBM Deutschland GmbH
Mr Turner will take the audience through IBM's updated smarter storage vision & strategy, building a roadmap to the future strategic capabilities IBM plans to deliver to our TSM clients.
By applying truly pro-active and predictive Storage Performance Management (SPM), the technical perspective changes from firefighting mode to preventing problems before they occur by implementing an early warning system with root cause analysis capabilities.
From a budget view, SPM processes focus on necessary and useful storage options instead of on oversized hardware configurations, generating budget savings instead of over-spending.
The session is about demonstrating how the nature and implementation of mature Storage Performance Management processes ensure minimizing risk while maximizing cost efficiency of storage hardware.
Ralf Affeldt, Michael Malitz, MM IT Consulting GmbH - Power Administrator for TSM
Ralf Affeldt and Michael Malitz will demonstrate how the “Power Administrator for TSM” with some new unique features in the market can help you to effectively manage your potential day to day problems & challenges arising in your TSM environment. Our topics:
This means: Saving effectively the TSM administrator “Time” and the company “Money”. "
By using Data protector you are able to do backup and restore on open source databases!
We have created a “plug-in” module tailored for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager. This means you can continue to use your existing solution without having to invest in new backup systems in order to secure your data. At the moment we supportthe following databases:
And more to come as the market evolves!
“Why Servergraph?”
An overview of the capabilities from Servergraph. Servergraph provides Operators, Administrators, Managers, Auditers, Business Partners and outsourcers with all the information they need to do the job right. Servergraph collects in real time data from Tivoli Storage Managers (and other Backup products) and its used hardware like, IBM Protectiers, EMC Data Domain and Sepaton.
Peter Micke, Schmitz RZ Consult GmbH
Control, verification and proof of all daily backups and documentation of the backup configurations are essential. Nevertheless, these tasks are often neglected. The reasons are firstly the high expenses and secondly, the type of work (routine tasks). BACKUP EAGLE® reduces the daily effort to check all failed backups. BACKUP EAGLE® ensures easy control, secure verification and complete evidence of backup operation. The configurations of TSM servers and TSM clients including all changes are automatically documented - no effort needed.
Main ideas, guidelines, concepts and components of BACKUP EAGLE® will be explained within the presentation.
Ross Battaglia, Tivoli Associates
TSMManager is a simple to use interface to all versions of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager software.
Zoltán Soós, USER Rendszerhaz Kft.
Most customers regard IBM Tivoli Storage Manager as a centralized backup solution but it is so much more. TSM is a centralized data storage environment providing backup and restore services as well as application data archive and retrieval. Integrating business applications with TSM is possible through the client API provided by IBM. Unfortunately, this API is only available in C/C++; however, the native environment for modern business applications is Java or SOA based.
Our Java Toolbox for TSM product is a high level object oriented Java API based on the native C/C++ API. Using our API Java developers can easily embed TSM services in their code.
TSM functionality can also be added to SOA environments using our JAX-WS compliant TSM Web Services product. Any process executed by a business process workflow engine (like IBM Business Process Manager) can leverage TSM services without writing a single line of code.
